The Engineering Leadership Institute

and the Engineering Competency Model

The Engineering Leadership Institute's Success Enabling Skills™ Performance Certification System leverages the Engineering Competency Model (ECM) to build the skills that enables high-performance for individuals and organizations. The ECM was originated through a partnership between the US Department of Labor Education and Training Administration and the American Association of Engineering Societies (AAES). The curriculum was selected by the Engineering Leadership Institute because it:

  • Defines essential skill competencies to enter, advance, and succeed in the Engineering industry

  • Provides a model to identify gaps in skill competencies and performance

  • Utilizes the Competency Based Education (CBE) model

  • Provides resources for career exploration and guidance
